BTI provided record pre-cast concrete spans of 125' over the Platte River near Columbus, Nebraska. The concrete girders were cast in two pieces and trucked to the job site assembly yard. At the assembly yard the two halves were spliced together with post-tensioning steel and high strength epoxy. Then the girders were transported from the assembly yard out to the bridge piers with two crawler cranes then out on the man made causeway and erected. Intermediate diaphragms were then erected and the girders were post-tensioned together transversely with high strength steel rods. |
